Mittenz and Family

I am on a roll with knitting up mittenz! I am very blessed to have been gifted with lots of wool yarn from a fellow knitter. So I've been making more mittens with that ingenious Indian thumb gusset.
Here's a few pairs for starters.

Yarn: Ironstone Multi 95% Wool 5% Polyester
Pattern: My own
Some are knit in the round, some are knit on 2 needles, but all of them have the new thumb gusset.

Here is a close up of the 2 needle mitts.
I'll be posting the pattern soon and I also have not forgotten about the 2 strand pattern.

Family
My daughter and my grandkids are here visiting so I've been pretty busy going here and there. Not much time for serious knitting, but I find I can work on those 2 needle mittenz without reading the pattern. They're really easy!

Yesterday we went grave hunting looking for an ancestor. No luck but we sure did walk and walk the whole cemetery. Good thing it was a small site.

We had a great lunch at Thai Diamond BBQ in Rancho Cucamonga.
Then after the grave walk, we went to Coffee Klatch in San Dimas for some really great coffee and boston cream pie and bought some beans to take home.

More outings are in store so I'll probably be concentrating on just mittens for now.

As Promised - Mittenz!

12th Pair of Mittens

I went shopping in my stash and found a bag of wool purchased at Straw Into Gold in Berkeley. This was Crystal Palaces's wonderful store; a quaint pink corner building.
I just loved hanging out there when I went up north to visit my sister. I never left empty handed!

Yarn is Sierra, from Crystal Palace, 100%wool spun in Brazil.
Pattern by me - a variation of that new thumb gusset technique.

The Kindness of Fellow Bloggers

Fellow blogger Monika gifted me with this beautiful project bag! I just love it and have put it to good use holding my current mitten project.

Thank you Monika - I've received many compliments!

Little Things Count

Thanks to everyone for the wonderful comments regarding my mom's picture mosaic! Now I'm thinking I might make a large print.

Summertime is here and it's getting warmer and warmer so I'll be knitting on little things for now until fall.

One little project I started last month is this cute baby cardi.

More Little Bits and Pieces
I really enjoyed making those hexies for the hexagon blanket and I found another project that requires little motifs.
A great project for beating the summer heat!

Protecting My Little Buddy Max

Max has developed the habit of climbing on the upstairs window screens.
When I catch him at it, I can chase him off, but who knows what he does when mommy is not looking :)

So to protect him from falling out (he's getting bigger and heavier), I built these cat proof screens. They fit in front of the window screen and are held in place by the sliding glass window and a little screw in the casement on the other side.
Max can climb and not fall thru.
I am hoping he will outgrow this habit, seeing as he is getting nowhere and I don't even pay attention to him when he does climb.
Cats are so like little kids!

Next post will be mitten-laden!

Red Is My Favorite Color

A Trio of Red Mittens

Well it is back to the mitten factory for me.
The little bitty baby mitts are from Lizzie's pattern here.

The double strand mittens I'm calling
Red Rocks Mittens
and there is no pattern - yet.
I have to make another pair or two before I post the pattern.

Meanwhile I'm busy working on garter stitch sock/slippers for my sister!

And a garter stitch baby jacket -

And a Triangle Shawl for the Elders.

Busy, busy , busy :)
